PRIVACY POLICY

This statement sets out how Isetan (Singapore) Limited (“Isetan”, “we”) collects, uses, discloses and protects the personal data of individuals who deal with Isetan (“you”, or “your”). This statement is provided in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the “PDPA”) and explains how and for what purposes we use your personal data. 

Personal data refers to means data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data, or from that data and other information to which Isetan has or is likely to have access.

By using our “Isetan Privilege App” mobile application (“our App”), or accessing or using our website(s) and any services that we offer via our website(s), you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy. 

Please note that this Privacy Policy complements, and does not limit or replace, any other purpose(s) for which you provide Isetan with your personal data which may be implied or expressly stated in any other form or context.

A) Collection of personal data

We may collect your personal data when you use our App, or when you access or use our website(s) and any services that we offer via our website(s).

The type of personal data that Isetan may collect from you includes but is not limited to the following (in no particular order):

• Name
• Addresses (including shipping address, billing address, residential address, mailing address, and email address)
• Home telephone and mobile numbers
• NRIC / Passport Numbers (last 4 characters will be collected)
• Nationality
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Credit card particulars
• Purchase history and transaction details
• Browsing activity and website usage
• Information pertaining to your points, vouchers, and other Isetan membership benefits
• Third-party account sign-in information (if you choose to login to our services via a third-party account sign-in function)
  IP address; and
• Device, operating system, and browser information

We may not be able to transact with you or provide you with the full range of our services if you do not provide some of the requested particulars/information.

In addition to personal data that is provided by you, we may also collect information about you from other sources such as our business partners and affiliates, or other publicly available sources. 

B) The purposes for which Isetan uses your personal data

The purposes for which Isetan processes, accesses, reviews, or uses your personal data may include any of the following:

• to open and administer customer accounts
• to administer your Isetan membership, for instance, tracking your purchase history and spending amount, providing you with discounts, tracking your accumulation and spending of points, vouchers, and other benefits related to your Isetan membership
• to provide services to you, for instance, inviting you to previews and events, and alerting you to new arrivals and promotions
• dealing with enquiries made by you
• processing orders submitted by you
• verification and authentication of your identity
• obtaining your views or comments on the services we provide
• maintaining and updating of your data
• storing, hosting, or backing up of your data
• statistical analysis
• administrative or operational purposes
• collection of payment, fees, charges, and expenses for any services provided
• evaluative, advertising, and marketing purposes, for instance, for determining which products / services to be recommended to you
• compliance with any law or regulation or directive from any applicable government body or authority such as but not limited to the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore
• investigating and/or reporting any criminal offences, where required by law
• disclosure to lawyers, auditors, financial advisors, and other professionals in connection with their services to us; and
• disclosure to related companies within the Isetan group of companies (whether within Singapore or overseas) including directors, employees, agents and representatives thereof, for operational, management, administrative, supervisory, advertising, marketing or evaluative purposes.
   

C) Sharing this information

Isetan works with other service providers (such as credit card processing companies) to provide services to you. Accordingly, your personal data may be disclosed to such other service providers for the purposes of providing such services to you. For instance, we may disclose your personal data to credit card processing companies we employ to verify any credit card transaction you might make on our website. For the avoidance of doubt, unless we tell you otherwise, such service providers will not have the right to use any information shared with them beyond what is necessary to assist us in providing the services to you.

We may also allow advertisers on our website or our App to choose the demographic information of users who will see their advertisements and we may provide information we have collected from you to an advertiser in non-personally-identifiable form, in order for that advertiser to select the appropriate audience for its advertisements.

In certain situations, businesses or third-party websites we are affiliated with may sell items or provide services to you through our website or our App. We may, for example, sell products or provide services jointly with affiliated businesses, or work with third party websites to enhance your experience on our website or our App. We will share your personal data with such affiliated business only to the extent that it is related to such transaction or service. We have no control over the policies and practices of third-party websites and applications as to privacy or anything else, so if you choose to allow the automatic transmissions discussed above, please review all third-party websites’ and/or applications’ policies before engaging in such automatic transmissions via our website or our App.

To enable you to enjoy your Isetan membership privileges with our third-party affiliates and partners including at Isetan stores outside of Singapore, we may disclose your personal data to such affiliates and partners. 

D) Information automatically collected from you

Whenever you visit and/or use our website or our App, we may use technologies to automatically collect information about your activities on our website or our App. Not all information that is collected will be personal data. Where personal data is collected, we will collect, use, and disclose the same in accordance with this privacy policy.

Some of the technologies that may be used for automatic collection of user activity are as follows:

• Cookies
• Web beacons
• Analytics tags
• Web server logs

Cookies

We may store some information (“cookies”) on your device. Cookies are small files of information which use a unique identification tag and are stored on your device as a result of using the website or other services we provide to you. A number of cookies we use last only for the duration of your session and expire when you close the website. Other cookies are used to remember you when you return to the website and will last for longer. A cookie helps you get the best out of our website and our App, and helps us to provide you with a more customised service.

We use cookies for the following reasons:

• managing your login session
• collecting statistical information about how you use the website so that we can improve our website and our App
• remembering that you have used our website/our App before so that we can identify the number of unique visitors we receive
• storing your preferences and selections
• customising elements of the layout and/or content of our website/our App for you
• enabling our advertising partners to gather information about the pages that you visit on our website/our App so as to place you in an "interest category". This information is used to serve advertisements on our website/our App which it is believed will be relevant to your interests.
   

E) Data quality

Isetan will take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal data it collects, uses or discloses is accurate and complete.

F) Data security

Isetan will make reasonable security arrangements to prevent any unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or disposal, or similar risks, and the loss of any storage medium or device on which personal data is stored.

Isetan will not keep personal data for longer than is necessary and will take reasonable steps to remove the means by which the personal data can be associated with particular individuals when it is no longer needed.

G) Access and correction

As a general rule, we will upon the request of an individual, provide him as soon as reasonably possible with personal information about the individual that is in our possession or under our control, and information about the ways in which the personal data has been or may have been used or disclosed within a year before the date of the request.

Isetan will also, where an individual has requested that we correct an error or omission in the personal data about the individual that is in our possession or under our control, correct such data as soon as practicable and send the corrected personal data to every other organisation to which the personal data was disclosed by Isetan within a year before the date the correction was made. 

Isetan may however choose not to provide individuals with access to or correct such personal data, in accordance with the exceptions under the PDPA. This would include cases where:

1. Isetan is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the correction should not be made;
2. The request for access is frivolous or vexatious or the information requested is trivial;
3. The personal information is related to a prosecution and all the proceedings related to the prosecution have not been completed;
4. The personal data, if disclosed, would reveal confidential commercial information that could, in the opinion of a reasonable person, harm the competitive position of the organisation; and
5. The personal data was collected, used or disclosed for the purposes of an investigation and associated proceedings and appeals have not been completed.

Isetan may decide to impose a nominal charge upon the individual to cover the cost of verifying a request for information and locating, retrieving, reviewing and copying any material requested.

H) Transborder data flows

Isetan may transfer your personal data outside of Singapore, for instance, if some services are sub-delegated to overseas resource centres or if your personal data is required for supervisory, administrative or operational purposes in other Isetan group companies. Where your personal data is transferred outside of Singapore, we will ensure that the recipients thereof provide a standard of protection to your personal information so transferred that is comparable to that which is provided in Singapore.

I) Deletion of account

If you wish to delete your account and all personal data collected via the Isetan Privilege App, please contact us via email ( contactus@isetan.com.sg ) or by telephone ( +65 6733 1111). We will delete your account within 5 working days and update you via email, and consider your request for deletion of all your personal data in light of the retention limitation obligation under the PDPA. All services will not be available to you once the account is deleted. In addition, all your points and vouchers earned will not be refunded or accessible once the account is deleted.

J) Enquiries and complaints

Isetan has designated the person whose details are set out below as the person (“Designated Person”) who will be responsible for ensuring Isetan’s compliance with applicable data protection laws. K) Revisions to this privacy policy

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do so, we will notify you by publishing the most updated version of this Privacy Policy on our website and on our App. Your continued use of our website or our App following any changes or amendments to this Privacy Policy will be deemed as your agreement to and acceptance of the revised terms.

This statement sets out Isetan’s Privacy Policy and the practices that will be followed with respect to the collection, use, and/or disclosure of personal data of individuals who deal with Isetan (“you”, “your”, or “yours”). This statement is provided in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (Act 26 of 2012) (the “PDPA”). and explains how and for what purposes we use the information collected about you via this website. By using this website and any services we offer via this website, you are agreeing to be bound by this Privacy Policy in respect of the information collected about you via this website.

Please note that this Privacy Policy complements, and does not limit or replace, the purposes for which you provide Isetan with your personal data which may be expressly stated in any form for submission of personal data to Isetan

The type of personal information Isetan may collect from you on this website includes but is not limited to the following (in no particular order):

• Browser information. Although it is not compulsory to give us this information, we may not be able to provide you with the full range of services this website has to offer if you do not do so.

Isetan will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

Isetan will not keep personal information for longer than is necessary and will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed.

As a general rule, Isetan will upon the request of an individual, provide him as soon as reasonably possible with personal information about the individual that is in our possession and information about the ways in which the personal data has been or may have been used or disclosed within a year before the date of the request.

Isetan will also, where an individual has requested that it correct an error or omission in the personal data about the individual that is kept with Isetan, correct such data as soon as practicable and send the corrected personal data to every organisation to which the personal data was sent before it had been corrected, unless that organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose.

Isetan may however choose not to provide individuals with access to or correct such information, in accordance with the exceptions under the PDPA. This would include cases where:

i. Isetan is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the correction should not be made;

If your personal information is transferred to a country or territory outside Singapore, for instance, if some services are sub-delegated to overseas resource centres or if the personal information is required for supervisory, administrative or operational purposes in other Isetan group companies (as described above), we will ensure that the recipients thereof provide a standard of protection to your personal information so transferred that is comparable to that which is provided herein.
