Our first full-scale supermarket started operations at the flagship store, Isetan Scotts.

Isetan Tampines opened at Tampines Mall. This store is located in Singapore's first regional centre.

Isetan became the first department store to receive an award from Skills Development Fund for Training in Japan. The Isetan Foundation was established to provide grants for bond-free scholarships and to make regular donations to the Community Chest and other charitable organizations. |

Isetan became the first Japanese department store to offer shares to the public. The name was changed to Isetan (Singapore) Limited.

Isetan won the Most Courteous Store Award by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board. |

Isetan Orchard was opened at Liat Towers. This store established Isetan's presence along Singapore's tourist shopping belt.
